This study has developed a quantitative model to evaluate the performance of non-profit organisations. Since Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) are not business enterprises it is rather difficult to evaluate their performances. This apart the diverse nature of the activities in which the NPOs involve make it all the more difficult to evaluate. Therefore the study aims to develop a model with appropriate indicators for the performance evaluation of NPOs.

The study report is presented in five chapters.  Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction to the concept of Non-Profit Sector and NGOs elucidates the problem studied, the objectives of the study, the research methodology and sample design. Chapter 2 provides the profiles of the organizations studied. The third chapter gives a detailed description of the model developed to evaluate the performance of NPOs.  The fourth chapter provides explanations about various indicators of evaluation of performance. Here both the financial and non-financial parameters are examined. The report ends with summary of findings and suggestions. The study is a laudable attempt in evolving quantitative evaluation methods as applicable to non profit organizations.  The study open up possibilities of further research in this crucial area.
